In Medium Density Overlay (MDO) or Breckenridge for more of a wood grain appearance. For a large photo of MDO and Breckenridge side by side click here (due to its size it will take time to download). . Specs: Each groove is 1/8” wide and almost 1/8” deep, and the grooves are 1 5/8"” apart when measured center to center. Thinline is manufactured out of 1/2” medium density overlay plywood siding. Medium density overlay, or “MDO” provides a high quality surface that paints well and (when painted) withstands the weather’s harsh elements better than plain wood. Available in 4x9 sheets and 4x10 by special order. Thinline is also available in the “Breckenridge™" material which is a one piece face okoume, (similar to mahogany) and is 5/8” in thickness. Breckenridge Thinline is available in 4x8, 4x9 and 4x10 sheets. MDO comes from Olympic Panel Inc. and Breckenridge is manufactured by Roseburg Forest Products. For information that each of these mills provide see below. Keep in mind that these panels come to us from the mills "blank" with no grooves and then we put the grooves in to match the Eichler siding. Available in rough sawn Douglas Fir. Specs: Each groove is 3/8” wide and 1/4” deep, and the grooves are 2” apart when measured center to center. Manufactured out of 5/8” premium grade Douglas Fir plywood siding in 4x8, 4x9, and 4x10 sheets. The texture is resawn and slightly rougher in appearance than existing Eichler siding. However a light sanding can help knock down the roughness.
Plank-Tex
Available in Breckenridge (okoume faced, similar to mahogany). This is a very unique and great looking siding, and was used on other homes in addition to Eichlers. We understand that it was originally made by US Plywood in the early '50s. Some know it as Planktex without the hyphen. Specs: It has grooves 8” apart and grooves are about 3/16” wide. The unique aspect of this pattern is that it also has a circular sawn swirl texture cut into the surface of the wood. This makes the plywood appear to be 8” planks nailed side by side. Manufactured out 5/8” or 1/2"** Breckenridge (Mahogany face) material. Available in 4x8, 4x9, and 4x10 sheets. Breckenridge is manufactured by Roseburg Forest Products.

Special note: As of July, 2006 we now offer
Plank-Tex in material that results in a better thickness match for
pre-existing Plank-Tex (planktex). In the past all we could offer was 5/8" stock which
did not fit all that well when fitted in between existing sheets. This
new 1/2" material works great! (See testimonial below)

click here. Plank-Tex Testimonial Jeff and Annette- I wanted to tell you how much I appreciate the service you provide by reproducing the Eichler siding. I am grateful you made the effort to reproduce the Plank-Tex siding used on my Eichler home. I am very pleased how well it matches the circular saw mark pattern! For my latest re-siding project, I used the new 1/2” thick Plank-Tex you now offer. During my project, I had replaced an entire section from corner to door. For my next project, I need to replace a smaller area and I was curious whether the siding thickness would be a good match if butted up to an original piece of siding. In comparing the thickness between the old and the new I was amazed it matches within a variance of 1/32 inch thickness. I was very excited as this gives me confidence to replace more sections of siding butted up to the existing. Thanks again! Nelson, Foster City, CA
