Below are descriptions of just some our plywood siding samples.
However, we are now tooling up to replicate the solid wood vertical siding used on many Eichler homes. If your siding is NOT plywood and is vertical solid redwood or cedar boards give us a call, or email us a photo and we'll do our best to produce what you need.
Here's a Video to help you identify if you have "Thinline" or "Wideline"
Thinline: Used on Eichlers and Streng Homes
PLEASE NOTE UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE MDO SHIPLAP IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE
Breckenridge is now available in a semi-rough texture or a smooth sanded surface. This provides a much closer match to the original texture and appearance of the original Eichler Thinline pattern. You now can have the smoothness AND wood grain texture.and offers a more of a wood grain appearance.
Please note: It is easy to get confused between our Thinline pattern shown here, and our Wideline pattern shown below. For a side by side picture of both of them, click here. Or for to view a video.
Specs: Each groove is 1/8” wide and almost 1/8” deep, and the grooves are 1 5/8"” apart when measured center to center. Thinline is available in the “Breckenridge™" material which is a one piece face okoume, (similar to mahogany) and is 5/8” in thickness. Breckenridge Thinline is available in 4x8, 4x9 and 4x10 sheets.

Please note: It is easy to get confused between our Wideline pattern shown here, and our Thinline pattern. For a side by side picture of both of them, click here. Or for a video.
Specs: Each groove is 3/8” wide and 1/4” deep, and the grooves are 2” apart when measured center to center. Manufactured out of 5/8” clear grade Breckenridge siding in 4x9, and 4x10 sheets. Wideline is currently available in both a semi-rough texture or a sanded version. Call for details.
Important!!!: Please keep in mind that shear wall values given for most siding is for typical 4" on center and 8" on center grooves. Wideline Eichler siding requires the grooves to be milled 2" on center to match the appearance.
You must check current building codes in your area to insure that the 2" on center grooves will pass building codes in your area.
Plank-Tex: Used on Eichlers and Streng Homes as well as homes other then Eichlers or Strengs. We have shipped this pattern to Oregon, Boston and other locations in the US. Originally made by US plywood, which is no longer in business.
Available in Breckenridge (okoume faced, similar to mahogany). This is a very unique and great looking siding, and was used on other homes in addition to Eichlers. We understand that it was originally made by US Plywood in the early '50s. Some know it as Planktex without the hyphen.
Specs: It has grooves 8” apart and grooves are about 3/16” wide. The unique aspect of this pattern is that it also has a circular sawn swirl texture cut into the surface of the wood. This makes the plywood appear to be 8” planks nailed side by side. Manufactured out 5/8” or 1/2"** Breckenridge (Mahogany face) material. Available in 4x8, 4x9, and 4x10 sheets. The Breckenridge material is manufactured by Roseburg Forest Products and we add this unique pattern.
**Special note: As of July, 2006 we now offer Plank-Tex in material that results in a better thickness match for pre-existing Plank-Tex (planktex). This new 1/2" material works great! And will match up to the older 3/8” material just fine. (See testimonial below)
We are now tooling up to replicate the solid wood vertical siding used on many Eichler and Streng homes in addition to the plywood siding we produce. If your siding is NOT plywood and is vertical solid redwood or cedar boards give us a call, or email us a photo and we'll do our best to produce what you need. We produce custom siding for a variety of homes.
These are the current patterns we produce. Call for custom patterns that may also be available by special order. Click here for additional custom patterns not unique to Eichler homes.
Jeff and Annette - I wanted to tell you how much I appreciate the service you provide by reproducing the Eichler siding. I am grateful you made the effort to reproduce the Plank-Tex siding used on my Eichler home. I am very pleased how well it matches the circular saw mark pattern!
For my latest re-siding project, I used the new 1/2” thick Plank-Tex you now offer. During my project, I had replaced an entire section from corner to door. For my next project, I need to replace a smaller area and I was curious whether the siding thickness would be a good match if butted up to an original piece of siding. In comparing the thickness between the old and the new I was amazed it matches within a variance of 1/32 inch thickness. I was very excited as this gives me confidence to replace more sections of siding butted up to the existing.
